Visa is introducing a new security framework designed to solve one of the thorniest problems emerging in artificial intelligence-powered commerce: how retailers can tell the difference between legitimate AI shopping assistants and the malicious bots that plague their websites. The payments giant unveiled its Trusted Agent Protocol on Tuesday, establishing what it describes as foundational infrastructure for "agentic commerce" — a term for the rapidly growing practice of consumers delegating shopping tasks to AI agents that can search products, compare prices, and complete purchases autonomously. The protocol enables merchants to cryptographically verify that an AI agent browsing their site is authorized and…

Eight months ago, OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, moved to relax some of its restrictions around naughty content in its “Model Spec,” the document describing how its large language models (LLMs) ought to behave — a noteworthy change from its previous stance prohibiting all sexual content. “To maximize freedom for our users, only sexual content involving minors is considered prohibited,” the updated ModSpec read. To users who have spent months begging OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman to relax restrictions around AI-generated smut, it was a welcome change. Yet as some noted, the model itself wasn’t so quick to adjust.…

When it comes to flagship phones, the most powerful 2025 devices are now becoming cheaper than their original price tags. This has been the case with most flagship devices, but one of the best deals we’ve seen is for the thin Galaxy S25 Edge. Originally going for $1219.99 at launch, it’s now possible to pick up the unbelievably slim Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge with 512GB storage for just $729.99 in a time-limited deal. That’s a slick 40% discount for the black, blue or silver versions, which brings the phone down to around the launch price of the Galaxy S25. Save…

As 50,000 attendees descend on Salesforce's Dreamforce conference this week, the enterprise software giant is making its most aggressive bet yet on artificial intelligence agents, positioning itself as the antidote to what it calls an industry-wide "pilot purgatory" where 95% of enterprise AI projects never reach production. The company on Monday launched Agentforce 360, a sweeping reimagination of its entire product portfolio designed to transform businesses into what it calls "agentic enterprises" — organizations where AI agents work alongside humans to handle up to 40% of work across sales, service, marketing, and operations."We are truly in the agentic AI era, and…

Kobo has just announced a remote page turner for its ereadersIt will be available to buy in most major markets from November 4Kobo, however, is yet to announce any new ereaders for 2025I’m an avid reader. Someone once told me that if an average reader goes through about 3,000 books in a lifetime, I’d probably have read 6,000. Most of that reading is done in bed, where I have my (month-old) Kobo Libra Colour propped up beside me on its magnetic cover, my arms tucked under my head or under the blanket. And every minute or two, I need to…

Microsoft is adding another 475 megawatts to its already considerable renewable-powered portfolio to feed the growing energy appetite of its data centers. The company recently signed a deal with energy provider AES for three solar projects across the Midwest, one each in Illinois, Michigan, and Missouri. The ramp up reflects the immediacy of Microsoft’s needs. When it comes to powering data centers, it’s hard to argue with solar. Quick to install, inexpensive, and modular, it’s a perfect fit for tech companies that need electricity now. Microsoft has been tapping solar with some regularity. In February, it contracted 389 megawatts from…

The Nebula Mars II Pro by Anker is a cute, tiny portable projector. Geoffrey Morrison/CNETAnker’s Nebula Mars II Pro is a surprising little portable mini projector. And I do mean little. It’s small enough to hide completely under a six-pack of Coke. With built-in streaming and a battery good for around three and a half hours of projection, the Mars II Pro is a great companion for a movie night in the backyard or somewhere farther afield. And in addition to being a projector, it’s also a big Bluetooth speaker. Like Compact size Built-in battery lasts up to 3.5 hours …

Back in April 2025, the acclaimed Netflix show Black Mirror dropped its long-awaited seventh season, and the dystopian anthology series continued to resonate with a lot of its fans. What I’ve always appreciated about Black Mirror is how it perfectly captures the mood of the real world, even as its plotlines become increasingly bizarre. I guess you kind of have to embrace the fictional strange when real life events become increasingly outlandish. While Black Mirror is great at creating sci-fi that makes you question your own reality, it’s not the only show out there that can truly break your brain…

Apple is widely expected to release its first foldable smartphone next year. The iPhone Fold’s hinge is now rumored to be much cheaper than previously anticipated, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst who’s always been very well connected with Apple’s supply chain. He says the hinge is now expected to be about $70 to $80 cheaper than “the market’s expectation”. 65% of the hinges Apple needs will be manufactured by a joint venture between Foxconn and Shin Zu Shing, the other 35% by Amphenol. Sometime “after 2027”, Luxshare-ICT could join Apple’s hinge supply chain. The reduction in the hinge’s cost…
