Bethesda, USA / Maryland, December 2nd, 2025, CyberNewsWire While most cybersecurity companies pour resources into AI models, massive compute, hoovering up all the data, and enhanced analytics to detect and prevent threats, Frenetik, a Maryland cyber startup, is betting on something simpler: making sure attackers don’t know what defenders know. The company emerged today with a fundamentally different approach using novel cyber deception and a newly issued U.S. patent to back it. “The industry has turned cybersecurity into a compute and analysis war,” said founder Hans Ismirnioglou. “Bigger models, more data, faster analysis. But you can’t out-compute or out-analyze an…
Price rises seem almost near-constant these days, and we’ve become accustomed to regular price hikes from streaming services, but for Netflix and HBO Max subscribers the opposite is being rumored. Yes, a streaming subscription price drop is being considered. Really. Reuters is reporting that Netflix’s proposed acquisition of Warner Bros Discovery’s studios and streaming unit could have a positive knock-on effect for subscribers of two major streaming services. Quoting “two people familiar with the proposal”, the deal could see Netflix and HBO Max bundled together, for a lower combined cost than the services are separately. The sources also noted that…
HBO Max has really cornered the market in a lot of ways. Sure, one could make the argument that prestige television has found a new home on Apple TV+, the premium streamer is still pumping out quality shows and movies. And the future does look bright, as fans will be treated to even more Game of Thrones spin-offs and prequels, as well as superhero fare like Lanterns. While those sound intriguing, I actually enjoy HBO Max mostly for its thriller shows. From tense cop mysteries to horror-tinged supernatural shows, the streamer has a little something for everyone. But some of…
When the last Chromecasts were discontinued in favor of the Google TV Streamer, some people were legitimately dismayed by the news. The Streamer is, technically, a more powerful product, for instance serving as a Matter and Thread hub for smart homes — but it’s not nearly as portable, or as easy to conceal behind a TV. It feels like Google threw a functional product under the bus, even if there isn’t as nearly as much need for it today as when the original version shipped in 2013. That one was a salvation from the nightmare of proprietary smart TV apps.…
Researchers at MiroMind AI and several Chinese universities have released OpenMMReasoner, a new training framework that improves the capabilities of language models in multimodal reasoning. The framework uses a two-stage process. It first refines a base model with a curated dataset in a supervised fine-tuning (SFT) stage. Then, a reinforcement learning (RL) stage guides the model to reason more effectively in tasks that involve both text and visual data. Experiments show that models trained with OpenMMReasoner outperform other leading visual reasoning models, often while being trained on a smaller, higher-quality dataset. The framework and all its assets, including a trained 7B model,…
NASA has selected the University of Alabama at Birmingham to provide the necessary systems required to return temperature sensitive science payloads to Earth from the Moon. The Lunar Freezer System contract is an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award with cost-plus-fixed-fee delivery orders. The contract begins Thursday, Dec. 4, with a 66-month base period along with two optional periods that could extend the award through June 3, 2033. The contract has a total estimated value of $37 million. Under the contract, the awardee will be responsible for providing safe, reliable, and cost-effective hardware and software systems NASA needs to maintain temperature-critical science materials, including…
Following in the footsteps of the OnePlus 13, OnePlus 12, and OnePlus Open, today the OnePlus 11 from 2023 is receiving the update to OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16. The update will initially only be available for Indian units. It arrives over-the-air as build CPH2447_16.0.1.300(EX01). It’s a whopping 3.58GB download, so make sure you grab it while connected to a fast enough network. As always with updates like this one, the rollout is staged, so not everyone who owns an Indian OnePlus 11 will have already received the update notification. If you haven’t, don’t worry – it will arrive…
Vector databases emerged as a must-have technology foundation at the beginning of the modern gen AI era. What has changed over the last year, however, is that vectors, the numerical representations of data used by LLMs, have increasingly become just another data type in all manner of different databases. Now, Amazon Web Services (AWS) is taking the next leap forward in the ubiquity of vectors with the general availability of Amazon S3 Vectors. Amazon S3 is the AWS cloud object storage service widely used by organizations of all sizes to store any and all types of data. More often than not, S3…
Steam currently requires developers to disclose any use of generative AI in their gamesEpic Games CEO Tim Sweeney wants Steam to stop labeling games that use AICritics argue that removing AI tags would reduce transparency for players who care how games are madeEpic Games CEO Tim Sweeney is calling on video game storefronts like Steam to ditch their “Made with AI” tags, arguing they’re outdated before they’ve even finished rolling out.“AI will be involved in nearly all future production,” he wrote in a post on X, insisting that labeling games that use it is pointless. “It makes no sense.” Steam,…
Mistral AI, Europe's most prominent artificial intelligence startup, is releasing its most ambitious product suite to date: a family of 10 open-source models designed to run everywhere from smartphones and autonomous drones to enterprise cloud systems, marking a major escalation in the company's challenge to both U.S. tech giants and surging Chinese competitors. The Mistral 3 family, launching today, includes a new flagship model called Mistral Large 3 and a suite of smaller "Ministral 3" models optimized for edge computing applications. All models will be released under the permissive Apache 2.0 license, allowing unrestricted commercial use — a sharp contrast to…
