We try not to discriminate when it comes to products. Whether it’s a £50 pair of headphones or a £5000 soundbar, our tastes are, well, broad. So when news arrived of a new entry in the Mu-so speaker range, our eyebrows arched not unlike Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti’s furry face caterpillars. For one, this new Mu-so is a Focal Mu-so, not a Naim Mu-so (what’s happening to Naim?). But this latest entry makes a move from hi-fi to home cinema with its support for Dolby Atmos sound. All-in-one systems swim in hi-fi waters while giving home cinema a glance, but…
The Garmin Venu 4 bridges the gap between fashion and function better than any of its predecessors or any other activity-focused smartwatch, giving casual-to-serious athletes a reason to stay within Garmin’s ecosystem instead of drifting to Apple or Google. It’s a pricey buy, but it packs excellent fitness and health tracking into a premium, polished package with the best of Garmin’s in-house training tools.Garmin’s Venu smartwatch line has always been the company’s most approachable entry point. It’s sleek, balanced, and far less intimidating than its button-laden siblings. With the Venu 4 ($549.99 at Amazon), Garmin is leaning even harder into that…

Nothing is breaking out of its mid-range shell – it went from launching its first flagship to its first entry-level phone in quick succession. But now there is an awkward clash with the CMF brand, which was supposed to be Nothing’s entry-level lineup. Based on its name, the Nothing Phone (3a) Lite is a dialed back, cheaper version of the Nothing Phone (3a). And there are certainly similarities, the phone is even closer to the CMF Phone 2 Pro. In fact, it is below the CMF model as it lacks the 50MP 2x/50mm telephoto camera while offering no advantage of…
We live in the age of remakes, sequels, and franchises. That’s just the way it is, and the way it will be until that no longer bears financial fruit for studios and producers. Yet when it comes to remakes, why do all the good movies get the treatment? Sure, they’re proven commodities and thus less of a risk, but it feels like such a waste. Remakes of already great movies rarely turn out well, and they hardly ever actually end up turning a profit. Which is why I have always believed that Hollywood needs to turn its focus to bad…
The eternal paradox with passwords is that while we’re constantly being pushed to create original and complex passwords for every app we use and every website we visit, those passwords become useless when we can’t remember them. Yes, a login like “311t10@gobxylo” might be difficult to crack and impossible to guess, but I’d never be able to memorize that well enough to avoid triggering a password reset eventually. Some sort of password locker is mandatory for me, and probably for you as well. Because of this, it’s now de facto for major web browsers like Chrome and Firefox to offer…
AI coding, vibe coding and agentic swarm have made a dramatic and astonishing recent market entrance, with the AI Code Tools market valued at $4.8 billion and expected to grow at a 23% annual rate. Enterprises are grappling with AI coding agents and what do about expensive human coders. They don’t lack for advice. OpenAI’s CEO estimates that AI can perform over 50% of what human engineers can do. Six months ago, Anthropic’s CEO said that AI would write 90% of code in six months. Meta’s CEO said he believes AI will replace mid-level engineers “soon.” Judging by recent tech layoffs, it…
ComputingThe Next Big Quantum Computer Has ArrivedIsabelle Bousquette | The Wall Street Journal ($)”Helios contains 98 physical qubits, and from those can deliver 48 logical error-corrected qubits. This 2:1 ratio is unique and impressive, said Prineha Narang, professor of physical sciences and electrical and computer engineering at UCLA, and partner at venture-capital firm DCVC. Other companies require anything from dozens to hundreds of physical qubits to create one logical qubit.”Artificial IntelligenceIn a First, AI Models Analyze Language as Well as a Human ExpertSteve Nadis | Quanta”While most of the LLMs failed to parse linguistic rules in the way that humans are…
