Meta signed a deal yesterday with solar developer Silicon Ranch to develop a $100 million, 100-megawatt solar farm in South Carolina. The new renewable installation will power Meta’s planned AI data center in the state, which is expected to cost $800 million. Both the data center and the solar plant are expected to begin operations in 2027. Most of the equipment for the solar farm will be made in the U.S., according to the companies. Spending too long on social media over Christmas will lead to a “deterioration of mood,” rather than a fuzzy festive feeling, according to a new study. Researchers at the University of Copenhagen (via BBC) say looking at other people’s “perfect” Christmas photos will make you feel miserable. As our solar system’s interstellar visitor hides behind the Sun, humankind’s expeditions to Mars have stepped up to provide an extra set of eyes. On Tuesday, the European Space Agency announced that two of its spacecraft orbiting the Red Planet had used their cameras to snap photos of the mysterious object, dubbed 3I/ATLAS, as it whizzed past over 18 million miles away from them. North Korean threat actors are estimated to have stolen more than $2 billion in cryptocurrency during the first nine months of 2025, blockchain analysis firm Elliptic says. This is an annual record for North Korean hackers, and the cumulative value of the cryptocurrency assets they have stolen to date has surpassed $6 billion.
