Honor Robot Phone teased ahead of full unveiling in March

Honor made the Magic8 and Magic8 Pro official today, and during the same event the brand also teased an upcoming device which it’s calling the Robot Phone. This will be fully unveiled at MWC in Barcelona in early March next year.

Until then, we get the teaser video below, and if you’ve been wondering what makes this a “robot phone”, it’s a gimbal camera that heavily resembles that of the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 – only this one is integrated into a phone, of course. Take a look for yourself:

So, it’s a robot phone – or, better put, the Honor Robot Phone – because the camera moves in a way that mimics a human (or robot) head. It also interacts with what it ‘sees’ in such a fashion, and there will of course be a lot of AI features built-in too.

Right now, Honor is billing this as a concept, and it’s unclear if at MWC in March we’ll see the full presentation of it as a concept device or a ‘finished’ one. Time will tell. Before then, you can register on Honor’s website to find out more and get “behind-the-scenes stories and firs-thand information”.

This also lets you participate in early user research, with “your valuable feedback” possibly contributing to shaping the final form of the product. You will also be “one of the world’s first to experience, touch, and test this revolutionary device”, so all in all, entering your email to get all these perks seems like a pretty good idea.
