On the sidelines of Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona this week, Samsung revealed more details about its upcoming smart glasses. The Galaxy Glasses will come with a camera that will be mounted at your eye level.

Of course, the glasses will connect to your phone. Samsung executive vice president of the mobile business Jay Kim told CNBC: “Everybody talks about what the next AI device is, and I know I’ve been looking at many different types of devices. Glasses, obviously is one of them and everybody’s looking at it”.

Kim added that the important thing is for AI to understand what you’re looking at so it can “feed the information to the mobile phone and then it processes and actually gives you a lot of information”.

And while he declined to directly say whether the Galaxy Glasses will have a display, the fact that he mentioned that Samsung has other products like smartwatches and phones if a user needs a display pretty much confirms that there won’t be one on the glasses.

Kim says the Galaxy Glasses could launch this year. Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon is “bullish” on smart glasses, saying they’re “close to our eyes, close to our ears, close to our mouth, we’re going to have those agentic experiences and workloads”.
