Weekly poll: will the vivo X300 or X300 Pro be your next phone?

Vivo introduced the X300 series this week and this year the family is smaller – there’s no mid-sized vanilla model and no “Pro mini”, just the small X300 and the big X300 Pro. Okay, there is likely an Ultra model and an FE model in the pipeline, but there’s no denying that vivo streamlined its flagship product line.

Let’s start with the vivo X300 Pro – it’s very much an “X200, part 2”, if we can put it that way. Dimensity 9400 gets swapped for 9500, UFS 4.0 for 4.1, 1/1.28” 50MP LYT-818 sensor for 1/1.28” 50MP LYT-282 sensor, 200MP HP9 telephoto sensor for 200MP HPB, 6,000mAh battery for 6,510mAh, you get the picture.

The X300 Pro (12/256GB) is launching at CNY 5,300, the same price as the X200 Pro was at launch. We don’t have details on a global rollout yet, but this heavily implies that the Pro model will cost the same as its predecessor once it reaches new markets.

Let’s look at the vivo X300 next – this is a successor to the X200 Pro mini and not the X200. We saw comments saying that this isn’t a true “Pro mini” since the main camera has a smaller sensor – 1/1.4” but with 200MP resolution, instead of a 1/1.28” 50MP sensor. Without binning, the sensor size is definitely a downgrade (0.56µm vs. 1.22µm pixels), but with binning to 50MP, it’s close enough.

And the X300 does bring some upgrades – even the X200 Pro mini didn’t have a USB-C 3.2 port, but the X300 does. The battery grows to 6,040mAh (+340mAh) and there are the shared upgrades in the series with a faster chipset (Dimensity 9500) and storage (UFS 4.1).

The vivo X300 is (12/256GB) launching at CNY 4,400, which is actually a bit cheaper than the CNY 4,700 that the X200 Pro mini cost at launch. Of course, the Pro mini never went global – overseas markets got the less capable X200 FE instead.

Before you head to the voting booth, check out our vivo X300 and X300 Pro hands-on review. We also tested the X300 Pro Photography Kit. And here’s what’s new with OriginOS 6.

Alright, time to vote, starting with the vivo X300 Pro. Is this the right flagship for you or are you tempted to wait for the Ultra?

Now the vivo X300 – a worthy successor to the X200 Pro mini or not? And are you sad to see the cheaper, larger X200 go away?
