Xiaomi India has been teasing a Redmi Note 15 Special Edition for a week now. The company just confirmed a few key details that set it apart from the regular Redmi Note 15 – this is a last minute information drop as the phone is going live on April 2, Thursday.

According to the official landing page, the phone will be available in a new vegan leather finish if you pick the red and gold “Crimson Reserve” color (7.82mm). There are also the more standard Carbon Black (7.35mm) and Frosted White (7.4mm). We already knew some of that from last week.

Newly revealed information shows that the Redmi Note 15 Special Edition will have a 50MP camera with 4K video recording. The global model has a 108MP camera instead, while the Chinese model has a 50MP camera. However, that Chinese model uses a tiny 1/2.88” sensor, which doesn’t feel very “Special Edition”. That said, the three color versions do look a lot like the New Year Cherry Red Edition, Midnight Black and Starlight White colors available on the Chinese model.

The Special Edition model will have a 5,800mAh battery, which is supposed to last up to 44 hours on a single charge and will remain in good condition for up to 5 years of usage. This again matches the Chinese model, since the global one has a 5,520mAh battery instead. Either way, charging is done at 45W.

Both versions are powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and the Special Edition will be too.
