AI-native OT security startup Frenos today announced raising $1.52 million in a seed funding round extension that brings the total raised by the company to $6.4 million.

The new investment round was led by Momenta and Exposition Ventures, with additional support from Riptide Ventures.

Frenos will use the new funding to expand its customer success team and to grow its AI R&D.

In addition to the fresh funding, the startup launched SAIRA Co-Work, an AI reasoning agent designed to provide evidence-based insights during complex investigations.

Founded in 2023, US-based Frenos has built an autonomous operational technology (OT) security assessment platform that continuously validates the security posture of OT systems.

The platform uses a digital twin of the customer’s network and SAIRA to run fully simulated penetration tests, validating attack paths, chaining exploits, and prioritizing risks.

According to Frenos, its approach reduces assessment time to minutes, has no downtime impact, requires no additional hardware or scanning, and is risk-free.

“Most OT security testing today tells you what’s vulnerable, not what’s defensible. The question that matters is what path takes an attacker from an exposed HMI to a process they can actually disrupt, and almost nobody is testing for that,” said Dragos co-founder and CEO and Frenos advisory board member Robert M. Lee.

“Frenos is one of the only teams I’ve seen build a platform that thinks in those terms without putting production at risk to do it. That’s a rare combination, and it’s why I joined the advisory board,” Lee continued.
