Samsung is doing a major overhaul of its SmartThings app with version 1.8.51.30. This update redesigns the Home tab and updates the Devices tab. This version already rolled out to iOS (actually, iPhone users got it first) and is now available on the Google Play Store and the Galaxy Store.
The Home tab now features more compact cards for devices and routines. You can tap on their icon to turn a device on or off or to trigger a routine. Cards can be resized and rearranged as needed.

You will also find a list of Favorites on the Home tab, which makes commonly used devices easier to find. This tab also features SmartThings Now, which shows info like the weather or suggested routines.
The app lets you build a 3D version of your home by setting the dimensions of each room and even downloading 3D models for various equipment and furniture. This process has been updated in the new version.

By the way, Samsung released the “Samsung Sound” app a few months ago – this app allows users to control Samsung’s Wi-Fi connected speakers and soundbars. However, the app is getting discontinued and its functionality will be rolled into the SmartThings app instead.
