Grok Bot can now add events, set reminders, and even turn off your lights for you

Grok Bot has been on a roll lately, with xAI pushing a steady stream of updates to the app. On iPhone, it recently picked up the ability to start a voice conversation with a press of the Action Button, and it also made its way to Apple CarPlay, and more. Now, it is getting its most useful update yet.

Grok Bot can now connect with the apps on your phone, including Calendar, Reminders, Contacts, and more. The feature is rolling out now on both iOS and Android.

What can Grok Bot do with your apps?

Based on the announcement image, Grok Bot can tap into six apps and services on your phone. It can read and send messages, use your location to find places near you, and look at your calendar to see your day and add new events.

It can also set and check reminders, find and add contacts, and even control your smart home through the Home app. That means you can ask it to turn off the lights or lock the door without opening another app.

This is the kind of feature that turns an AI chatbot into a proper assistant. Instead of switching between apps to add a meeting or set a reminder, you can just ask Grok Bot and let it handle the rest.

Do you have to give Grok Bot access to everything?

No, you don’t. Each app comes with its own Allow button, so you get to decide which apps it can access. If you are comfortable letting it manage your reminders but not your messages, you can do exactly that. I like this approach, as it puts you in control of your data.
