Google Gemini for Home is now rolling out

At the beginning of this month, Google unveiled Gemini for Home, alongside a bunch of devices for the home. Today, Gemini for Home has started rolling out in the US, but there’s a catch.

Gemini for Home is currently in early access mode, and if you want to be among the first people in the US to be able to test it, you need to request access.

Google Gemini for Home is now rolling out

To do this, go to Google Groups settings > Global Settings, and make sure “Add me to their groups” is checked. Then go to the Google Home app, tap your profile picture or initials, and select Home settings. That’s where the “early access” option should be located, and tapping on that will request access on your behalf.

If you are granted access, Gemini for Home will replace Google Assistant on your compatible smart home devices. It’s important to note that this move is irreversible – you can’t go back to Google Assistant later if you change your mind. Also, access to Gemini Live and the ability to search your camera history with Gemini for Home both require a paid Google Home Premium subscription.
