Qualcomm has recently delved into the computer chip realm with the Snapdragon X series, and the latest Snapdragon X2 chips were unveiled back in September. These are expected to be featured in Windows laptops starting in spring 2026.

But it now looks like they won’t just be featured in Windows laptops. Qualcomm has started work on supporting Android for its X series chips, which means Android computers are on the horizon.

With Google’s planned merger of ChromeOS with Android, this makes sense of course. It will be interesting to see what a standardized Android build for laptops will look like, but we can’t wait to find out – that space has been rather stale for too long.

And while Qualcomm has seen some success with its Snapdragon X chips powering Windows devices, putting Android on laptops definitely has the potential to significantly change the game. Hopefully Google gets it right in terms of user interface and user experience – it probably isn’t complicated at all for Qualcomm to add this support, so the software experience will make or break it.
