Since the release of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 this past summer, rumors have been swirling about when Samsung might finally reveal its next major foldable phone — a tri-fold device. Now, the wait is finally over.

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Z TriFold, its most advanced foldable phone ever, featuring a 10-inch main inner display, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, and equipped with the largest battery in a Samsung foldable yet at 5,600mAh.

The Galaxy Z TriFold has dual inward-folding panels that unfold to reveal its 10-inch inner AMOLED display, which Samsung says has been “built to deliver the best user experience possible” with a durable titanium hinge housing and an armor-aluminum frame. Turning to the cover screen, it’s a 6.5-inch AMOLED, the same as the Fold 7.

Samsung has announced that the Z TriFold will be available in South Korea on December 12 and is expected to come to the US in the first quarter of 2026, meaning it could be released anytime between January and March. US pricing has not been announced.

At Galaxy Unpacked last summer, when I checked out the Fold 7, I was most impressed by how thin it was when unfolded, measuring just 4.2mm. The Galaxy Z TriFold is even thinner, at an astonishing 3.9mm when unfolded. However, when folded, it measures 12.9mm, which is much thicker than the 8.9mm of the Fold 7.

“Through years of innovation in foldable form factors, Galaxy Z TriFold solves one of the mobile industry’s longest-standing challenges — delivering the perfect balance between portability, premium performance, and productivity all in one device. Galaxy Z TriFold now expands the boundaries of what’s possible for mobile work, creativity, and connection,” said TM Roh, head of Samsung’s Device eXperience (DX) Division.

The Z TriFold features a triple-rear camera setup, including a 200-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens. The cover screen sports a 10-megapixel selfie camera, and so does the inner display.

Samsung highlights other features of its TriFold phone, including compatibility with all of Samsung’s Galaxy AI functions, such as Photo Assist and Sketch to Image, as well as integration with Google Gemini, including Gemini Live.

The Galaxy Z TriFold will be available in the US early next year, though its price hasn’t been announced. Given that the Fold 7 starts at $2,000, the TriFold will likely cost more.
