Dolby Atmos is my favorite audio format available today, and I give it a wholehearted recommendation to anybody who asks about it. The format is more accessible than ever, with most streaming services offering a tier that supports it, modern game consoles offering it, and what feels like most 4K Blu-ray discs having a mix of it. Dolby Atmos is everywhere, and the only thing you need to do is make sure you have a way to listen to it. What makes Atmos special is its spatial audio capabilities. It goes above and beyond what traditional surround sound offers by…
Forecasts of the impact of artificial intelligence range from the apocalyptic to the utopian. An October 2025 report from Senate Democrats, for example, predicted AI will destroy millions of US jobs. A couple of years earlier, consultant company McKinsey forecast AI will add trillions to the global economy, while emphasizing job losses can be mitigated by training workers to do new things. The problem is that many of these claims are based on projections, overly simplified surveys, or thought experiments rather than observed changes in the economy. That makes it hard for the public, and often policymakers, to know what to…
The M4 chip in a tablet that starts at £549 is not something you would have expected to find at this price point, even a year ago, and that gap between specification and cost is exactly what makes this deal worth attention. That value case belongs to the 2026 Apple iPad Air 11-inch, now available for £549 instead of £599 at Amazon, and it’s only been available for a little over a month. Grab the 2026 iPad Air 11‑inch with £50 off, while it lasts The 2026 iPad Air 11‑inch is now £50 cheaper, making it an ideal moment to…
With a rich set of formatting features comes a great responsibility. You have to get the look right if you expect to be taken seriously. Every time I received a Word document, I’d lose 20 minutes fixing mismatched fonts, inconsistent headings, and rogue spacing. It was the most tedious part of an editor’s job. It took me some time to realize that Word is designed to reward thought structure over tinkering. It has the tools for it. That’s why Microsoft Word power users swear by the Design tab. The Design tab will take you beyond basic formatting habits and help…

Sign up to see the future, today Can’t-miss innovations from the bleeding edge of science and tech Over the past few months, Amazon has been rapidly deploying its Prime delivery drones to cities across the US, from Arizona to Florida. The drones promise to enable the delivery of small parcels to suburbanites in under two hours, for a modest fee of $4.99. But as more and more videos are starting to show, they might also be delivering a lot of broken glass. In one clip, teacher-turned-influencer Tamara Hancock explores what happens if you order something fragile. In the comments under…
If you’ve ever played video games on a laptop that sounded like a small aircraft trying to take off, Intel has heard you (and your laptop). The company’s Chinese division has launched “AI Quiet Plus,” a new certification and optimization program for gaming laptops (via VideoCardz). As the name suggests, the feature uses artificial intelligence to dramatically reduce fan noise and surface heat while maintaining performance. Video Cardz / Intel How does AI Quiet Plus actually work? It might be a bit confusing at first, since AI Quiet Plus isn’t a chip or a software update that you can download…
