Apple increased the monthly price of its video streaming service three times in three years – even so, the subscriber count has been growing faster than we suspected. The rumor was for 45 million subscribers. However, Apple Services SVP Eddy Cue appeared on Hollywood-focused podcast The Town and stated that the actual subscriber count is “significantly more than that”. However, Cue refused to give a specific number. Based on numbers from FlixPatrol, the rumored 45 million count would have put the newly renamed Apple TV service just above Peacock’s 41 million. For what it’s worth, the estimated number on this…
2025 was supposed to be the year of "AI agents," according to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and other AI industry personnel. And it has been, in many ways, with numerous leading AI model providers such as OpenAI, Google, and even Chinese competitors like Alibaba releasing fine-tuned AI models or applications designed to focus on a narrow set of tasks, such as web search and report writing. But one big hurdle to a future of highly performant, reliable, AI agents remains: getting them to stay on task when the task extends over a number of steps. Third-party benchmark tests show even…
WISPIT 2b Researchers have discovered a young protoplanet called WISPIT 2b embedded in a ring-shaped gap in a disk encircling a young star. While theorists have thought that planets likely exist in these gaps (and possibly even create them), this is the first time that it has actually been observed. Researchers have directly detected – essentially photographed – a new planet called WISPIT 2b, labeled a protoplanet because it is an astronomical object that is accumulating material and growing into a fully-realized planet. However, even in its “proto” state, WISPIT 2b is a gas giant about 5 times as massive…
Vivo unveiled the X300 series yesterday, and we were there to cover the whole event. Apart from the quality hands-on time with the X300 Pro and X300, we were also able to capture plenty of photos with both phones. What we didn’t have time for, however, was to snap some long-range shots using the vivo X300 Photographer Kit and the 2.35x telephoto extender lens. Today, we finally have those, too, and you will find them further down, but first, here’s a closer look at the actual gear. Hands-on The vivo X300 Pro’s Photographer Kit looks similar to the one we…
There’s a fine line between convenience and privacy, and Microsoft’s new Windows Recall feature sits right on it. On one hand, it’s supposed to be a game-changing addition to Windows, designed to help you retrace your steps and find anything you’ve previously seen or worked on. It’s much like your browsing history, but for your entire PC. On the other hand, this same ability to “remember” everything you’ve done naturally raises privacy concerns. That’s because Windows Recall works by continuously capturing snapshots of your screen. If that doesn’t sound comfortable, useful, or entirely safe, though, it’s quite easy to check…
TL;DR The Pixel 10 Pro Fold battery exploded during JerryRigEverything’s durability test. It snapped along the same weak antenna line as past Folds, and the IP rating was called into question. The YouTuber says it’s the “weakest” foldable he’s ever tested. We know you might only be here for the fireworks. If so, skip to the 7:20 mark in the video above.According to JRE, the explosion happened after the phone snapped at one of its antenna lines, which pinched the pouch-style battery layers together and caused a short circuit. That quickly led to a thermal reaction that dumped all of…
There’s a power crunch looming as AI and cloud providers ramp up data center construction. But a new report suggests that a solution lies beneath their foundations. Advanced geothermal power could supply nearly two-thirds of new data center demand by 2030, according to an analysis by the Rhodium Group. The additions would quadruple the amount of geothermal power capacity in the U.S. — from 4 gigawatts to about 16 gigawatts — while costing the same or less than what data center operators pay today. In the western U.S., where geothermal resources are more plentiful, the technology could provide 100% of…
The brain is like a city within a fortress. Its cellular inhabitants normally hum along in their daily routines. Neurons send out the electrical signals underlying memory and cognition. Supporting cells provide nutrients and fine-tune neural signals. Immune cells keep an eye out for infection and other dangers. A liquid bath washes away toxic proteins.Surrounding the city is a tight-knit cellular wall called the blood-brain barrier. The barrier blocks potential invaders, like infectious diseases swimming in the blood. But it’s far from impenetrable. The barrier selectively chooses which molecules go into the brain and which go out.In Alzheimer’s disease, toxic clumps…
Why you can trust TechRadar We spend hours testing every product or service we review, so you can be sure you’re buying the best. Find out more about how we test. Pokémon Legends: Z-A feels like a mega evolution for the franchise. It draws on elements from the core series of games, the battle mechanics ripped from the anime, the exploration and freedom pioneered by Legends: Arceus, and a story focus that I feel we haven’t seen since the Gamecube’s XD: Gale of Darkness – which, alongside its predecessor Colosseum, are my two favorite Pokémon titles.REVIEW INFOPlatform reviewed: Nintendo Switch 2Available…
Google’s latest AI project ventures into Pinterest’s territory, as the company announced the launch of Mixboard, software that enables anyone to create AI-powered mood boards. The service competes with Pinterest’s collage feature, where users create mood boards using their favorite Pins and other images. With Mixboard, however, there’s no need to have an established image collection to pull ideas from. Instead, users can start their own project using text prompts to have AI fill in the ideas. (Pre-populated boards you can edit are also available if you need a little help in the creativity department.) Image Credits:Google The service is…
