Microsoft is adding another 475 megawatts to its already considerable renewable-powered portfolio to feed the growing energy appetite of its data centers. The company recently signed a deal with energy provider AES for three solar projects across the Midwest, one each in Illinois, Michigan, and Missouri. The ramp up reflects the immediacy of Microsoft’s needs. When it comes to powering data centers, it’s hard to argue with solar. Quick to install, inexpensive, and modular, it’s a perfect fit for tech companies that need electricity now. Microsoft has been tapping solar with some regularity. The Nebula Mars II Pro by Anker is a cute, tiny portable projector. Geoffrey Morrison/CNETAnker’s Nebula Mars II Pro is a surprising little portable mini projector. And I do mean little. It’s small enough to hide completely under a six-pack of Coke. With built-in streaming and a battery good for around three and a half hours of projection, the Mars II Pro is a great companion for a movie night in the backyard or somewhere farther afield. Back in April 2025, the acclaimed Netflix show Black Mirror dropped its long-awaited seventh season, and the dystopian anthology series continued to resonate with a lot of its fans. What I’ve always appreciated about Black Mirror is how it perfectly captures the mood of the real world, even as its plotlines become increasingly bizarre. I guess you kind of have to embrace the fictional strange when real life events become increasingly outlandish. While Black Mirror is great at creating sci-fi that makes you question your own reality, it’s not the only show out there that can truly break your brain…

Apple is widely expected to release its first foldable smartphone next year. The iPhone Fold’s hinge is now rumored to be much cheaper than previously anticipated, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst who’s always been very well connected with Apple’s supply chain. Sometime “after 2027”, Luxshare-ICT could join Apple’s hinge supply chain. The reduction in the hinge’s cost…

Instagram is experimenting with bringing tools to control your own algorithm to Threads, its X rival. The feature was uncovered while in development by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, who discovered the code and told TechCrunch it’s related to the algorithm configuration tools that are also coming to Instagram. When contacted, Instagram confirmed the product is still an internal prototype for the time being and is not currently being tested with users. However, the Instagram account being used for this feature is live at @threads.algo and is followed by several Meta engineers. Image Credits:screenshot from Threads (opens in a new window)…
