A new rumor from a Chinese leaker suggests that Apple’s C2 modem which is expected to be featured inside the iPhone 18 Pro series will support 5G satellite connectivity. The rumor claims the C2 modem will offer support for New Radio Non-Terrestrial Networks (NR-NTN) connectivity. This means devices with the new modem will be able to connect to low-Earth orbit satellites for direct internet access in areas without traditional cellular coverage. This is not the first time we’re hearing about Apple’s push into NR-NTN, as Cupertino has been rumored to bring the feature for some time now. The C2 modem…
Prime Video just wrapped up the second season of Fallout, its post-apocalyptic drama based on the Fallout video games that have been coming out since 1997. Our heroes (such as they are) found themselves in New Vegas, a dilapidated shell of the city it once was, but still full of people who love a good bet. Will they return order to the wasteland? Will the Ghoul (Walton Goggins) find his family? We won’t get the answers to those questions for a good long while, since producing a new season of a show this complicated takes time. But in the meanwhile,…

Back in 2023, I had the pleasure of interviewing Lisa McGee on the BAFTA red carpet the night she won for Derry Girls season 3. It was one of the highlights of my career to date, but after watching her character Saoirse (Roisin Gallagher) flee for her life from the awards in new Netflix show How to Get to Heaven from Belfast, I’m starting to wonder if McGee felt…

There was a moment late last year when I thought I’d lost my wallet. I searched everywhere, in every nook and cranny. It was nowhere. I began walking through all the steps I’d have to take to secure my life; my IDs, my credit cards, even some memories stuffed inside. I was, for a moment, devastated. Then I remembered something: I’d had the wallet on me the other day…
This Hyper-V VM error occurs during a system’s Secure Boot or Trusted Platform Module (TPM) verification process, where a pre-launch health check detects that a critical hardware or firmware component is no longer functioning correctly. It typically prevents the system from proceeding with secure boot or attestation, halting startup to preserve system integrity and security. So, […] This article Pre-attestation health checks confirm a critical component has failed first appeared on TheWindowsClub.com.
In September, Qualcomm is rumored to be unveiling the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, with the latter being the company’s new top dog in the smartphone SoC space until 2027. Now a new rumor from China claims the Xiaomi 18 will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, and not the Pro version of the SoC, since the Elite Gen 6 Pro is apparently going to be too expensive. That said, the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will most likely go with the Pro chipset. Xiaomi 17 Xiaomi will…
NASA completed the first flight test of a scale-model wing designed to improve laminar flow, reducing drag and lowering fuel costs for future commercial aircraft. The flight took place Jan. 29 at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards, California, using one of the agency’s F-15B research jets. The NASA-designed, 40-inch Crossflow Attenuated Natural Laminar Flow (CATNLF) wing model was attached to the aircraft’s underside vertically, like a fin. The flight lasted about 75 minutes, during which the team ensured the aircraft could maneuver safely in flight with the additional wing model. “It was incredible to see CATNLF fly after all of the hard work the team has put into preparing,” said Michelle Banchy, research principal investigator for CATNLF. “Finally seeing that F-15 take off and get CATNLF into the…

I have always been drawn to the hidden layers of the technology we use every day. We spend plenty of time arranging home screens and adjusting surface-level settings, yet there is often an entire lower tier of the operating system that manufacturers keep out of sight. On Samsung Galaxy devices, that curtain is easy to pull back if you know the right sequence. There is no need to root your phone, connect it to a computer, or risk your warranty. All it takes is dialing a short code on the keypad. The code is *#9900#, which opens a utility called…
