The new Honor Watch 6 has a massive 980mAh battery, which can last up to 35 days in typical usage. The watch also has a lighter and slimmer body, a brighter display and improved health and sports tracking features.

The Watch 6 body is made of recycled aluminum alloy with 316L stainless steel elements. It weighs 41g and measures 10.8mm thick – this is particularly impressive when compared against something like the Honor Watch 5 Ultra, which was 11g heavier (it weighs 52g), a bit thicker (11.4mm) and has only a 480mAh battery capacity. We say “only”, but 500mAh or so is actually pretty typical for a 46mm watch. At 980mAh, this Honor even beats the Xiaomi Watch 5, which has a large battery of its own – 930mAh. The Xiaomi, however, weighs 56g and is 12.3mm thick.

The Watch 6 measures 46.5mm across and has precision-crafted beveled edges around its 1.46” display. Honor calls this the Racing Dashboard Design. And yes, it’s a round display, unlike the vanilla Honor Watch 5, which is why we compared it with the Ultra above. You can have it in Twilight Brown (brown leather strap) or Shadow Black (black fluoroelastomer strap). Note: the weights listed are without the strap.

The display can reach 3,000 nits peak brightness. You can customize it with live photos and short videos (up to 10 seconds). And its touchscreen functionality works even with wet fingers, so you can go running in the rain.

You don’t even need the touchscreen to control the watch – Honor has developed wrist-twist gestures that let you silence alarms, manage calls and skip songs.

We mentioned water earlier – the watch is rated IP69 and can be used in pool and beach-side swimming. Just don’t dive with it. The watch supports over 120 sports modes with several highlights.

Trail Running mode has an AI coach that gives you detailed climbing and distance metrics. For badminton, you get smash speed reports. For football, heat and trajectory maps.

Outdoor sports are tracked with the dual-band “six-star” GPS (i.e. it supports six constellations including Galileo and BeiDou). And while you’re out, you can use the NFC feature to pay with Mastercard and Visa.

Quick Health Scan can give you comprehensive health analysis at any moment and you will wake up with a daily health report ready for review each morning. Honor says that its IntelliSense has richer, more uniform signal acquisition than typical PPG sensors (heart rate and blood-oxygen sensors).

Note that like the other Honor Watches, the Watch 6 runs a proprietary MagicOS and not Wear OS. It is compatible with both Android (9.0+) and iOS (15.1+) phones. There is 4GB of storage built-in, which can be used to store maps.

The Honor Watch 6 is available starting today (June 18). The regular price for the Shadow Black version is €250/£230, while the Twilight Brown version is €270/£250. However, during the first month, you can get the black version at just €170/£150 (that’s an €80/£80 discount). Again, the leather version is €20/£20 more. You will also receive a free pair of Honor Choice Earbuds Clip (MSRP £60). You will need to subscribe to get the discount and free buds, though.
