Yesterday, Apple hiked the prices of all of its products except for iPhones, and the MacBook Neo didn’t get spared – its price went up by $100 in the US.
Today, Apple has started offering the MacBook Neo in its refurbished store, and the price for the entry-level model with 256GB of storage and no Touch ID is now back to $599. That used to be the price for the new laptop pre-hike, now you can get a refurbished one for the same amount.

If you want the one with 512GB of storage and Touch ID, you’ll have to pay $679, which is $20 less than this variant used to go for new before yesterday’s price increase. A new one in this configuration will now set you back $799.
So you are saving a bit of cash by going the refurbished route, and as usual when buying an officially refurbished Apple product, you get a one-year warranty just like with a new one. Apple says every device “undergoes full functionality testing and any defective parts are replaced”. There’s also a “thorough cleaning and inspection process”, and the laptop is repackaged. You even get a USB-C cable in the box along with a 20W power adapter.
