My favorite TCL TV app doesn’t require a subscription

A lot is going on around the world today. Wars, political unrest, economies collapsing — and those are just the things that most regular citizens feel they don’t have control over. Throw in the regular challenges of just maintaining a thriving existence or struggling, and it can all feel overwhelming!

I’ve often read that it isn’t as much about a problem as it is about how you respond to it, and TCL has a killer feature that helps me lower my stress levels and keep that cortisol down. For many people, TV is entertainment, and at its core, entertainment is about escape. It lets us get away from our daily issues and lose ourselves in another world, disconnecting from the harsher realities of this one for a time. Let’s talk about that killer feature and how it can help you escape!

This art is an entire mood

    Galleries, AI, and relaxation

The feature, or more precisely, app, we’re talking about here is the T-Exhibition app on TCL’s Google TV lineup. First launched in 2024 alongside TCL’s NXTVISION and NXTFRAME Google TVs, the app acts as a high-end art gallery to turn your wall-mounted, or, in the case of the previously mentioned models, easel-mounted TVs, into art gallery-quality home electronic canvases. I’m looking at it on TCL’s SQD-Mini LED QM7L TV with Google.

Initially created for models with picture frame-style designs, opening the app, you’re greeted by a string of images, a TV on an easel icon, and four tabs at the bottom of the screen: GALLERY, “Ai” Art, RELAX, and MOMENT. 2025 TCL models would receive the AI feature. The icon on the far left immediately turns on an ambient screensaver mode that instantly turns your TV into a picture frame. The GALLERY tab gives you six image categories to choose from. The first category is Live Masterpieces, featuring compelling animated works from famous artists like Van Gogh, Monet, and others. Then there are the Digital, Photography, TCL Art, Museum, and ALL Pictures categories. In all, you have 181 images to work with.

The “Ai” Art tab gives you a few categories of art styles, then allows you to use several preset menu options to create art in the category style that you’ve selected. I’m skipping one for now, but the next tab I’ll mention is the MOMENT tab and it allows you to upload your own images and perform some pretty interesting visual “tricks” with them.

    Relax by the ocean

The RELAX tab lets me end my workday with a smooth transition into relaxation. This tab offers four content categories: Seasons Voice, Natural Rhythms, Soundscape, and T-Solo. All of the content in this tab has some natural sound and/or music attached to it. Some are moving videos, and some are animations. That music can be soft, piano-based, or New Age-style music you might hear during a spa treatment or massage.

Let’s walk through a few, briefly. First up is actually a weekend favorite of mine. Do you love lying in bed, listening to the sound of raindrops? In the Season’s Voice category, the first content option, Spring Rain, features an image of branches and leaves with rain falling in the background and droplets falling from those branches and leaves. The accompanying sound of rainfall is immensely soothing.

Winter Fire, in this same category, is a cozy fireplace, similar to the Yule Log that folks like to run on YouTube for hours during the Christmas season. Scrolling to the right, the Summer Solstice is a bird’s-eye view of cliffs and rock formations at the edge of an island, with the accompanying sound of the ocean smashing against those rocks. Both are quite immersive, with soundscapes that are equally as calming as that Spring Rain piece.

The Natural Rhythm category has two of my favorite clips. The first is called Auroral Night and is a gorgeous video or animation of the Aurora Borealis over a mountain range. The sound that accompanies it is that New Age spa music type, and it goes a great distance to helping me relax. It’s also great to play if you’re quieting down for the evening and your partner asks for a shoulder massage. You get great visuals and that soothing spa massage music!

My personal favorite out of all the available options is the Sunset Coast. You’re on a beautiful beach, standing at the shoreline as the tide rolls in and out. The sound of the ocean fills your ears. That tide rolls in and out, with a beautiful red and orange sunset as the backdrop. My wife and I both love the beach and are basically fish who love the water, so this one is a favorite for both of us. Once you start playing it, you’re really just teleported to a beautiful place, with your senses of sight and sound massaged by the beautiful sunset visuals and rhythms of the shoreline tides!

Being able to launch one of my favorite environments and lose myself in the sight and sound is a great perk of having one of these TVs. Thanks to its beautiful display and a good surround system, I don’t feel that I need to pay for a mindfulness app like Calm when I can just turn my TV on and escape in a way that is completely passive, allowing me to shut my brain down for a time and allowing the mellow vibes to flow through me. You should definitely try T-Exhibition if you own a TCL TV with Google.
