Google recently began rolling out the Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2.1 update to eligible Pixel devices. At the same time, the company has confirmed that the first Android 17 beta is coming soon.

In a Reddit post, Google revealed that the Android 17 Beta 1 will roll out to users soon with bug fixes and include improved performance and system stability.

Android 17 Beta 1 set to roll out soon, Google confirms

Users currently enrolled in the Android Beta program will automatically receive the Android 17 Beta 1 update once it rolls out. According to a report from last year, the Android 17 update carries the internal codename ‘Cinnamon Bun.’

Those who do not wish to install the Android 17 beta will need to exit the beta program. To do so without losing their data, they must opt out now, ignore the update labeled ‘Downgrade’, and wait for the stable public release of Android 16 QPR3.

If you install the Android 17 beta and later decide to opt out without wiping your device, you’ll need to wait until the beta cycle concludes, which is expected around June.

The stable Android 17 update is expected to arrive in Q2 2026, bringing a host of improvements, new gaming features, and additional enhancements.
