Apple Home Collection launches with LG and Schneider cameras, thermostats, and sensors

Apple had a busy day today. The company introduced its HomeView smart display, the next-generation Apple TV 4K, and the HomePod mini 2, all with Siri AI. Alongside those, it also announced the Apple Home Collection, a range of smart home accessories co-developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.

The lineup includes four LG cameras, an LG smart lock, two smart thermostats (one each from LG and Schneider Electric), and a temperature sensor from each of the two companies. Every device is set up with a single tap of an iPhone and controlled entirely from the Home app or with Siri, so there’s no separate app to download and no account to create. They all support Thread, and they update their network credentials automatically if you change your Wi-Fi.

All four cameras record up to 2.5K video and recognize people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles, and packages. Their footage history lives in your iCloud+ plan, so there’s no separate camera subscription. The LG Video Doorbell Wired pairs a 2.5K front camera with a Full HD bottom camera that keeps an eye on packages, and it has a built-in spotlight, two-way talk, and a chime that plays through your HomeView, HomePod, or HomePod mini. The LG Floodlight Cam adds dual adaptive floodlights that switch on automatically when motion is detected, as well as low-light color night vision.

The LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In also has low-light color night vision, and it’s designed to be easily angled and installed. The LG Indoor Cam Plug-In has a 160-degree field of view and physically tilts up when you check in on your home, then tilts back down to stop monitoring as soon as the first person in the household gets home. You can also tilt it manually or from the Home app.

The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock uses Ultra Wideband to figure out when you’re approaching with your iPhone or Apple Watch, and it unlocks the door automatically, with no tapping required. You can also tap to unlock, use the built-in PIN pad, or fall back to a hidden physical key. The lock can tell if the door has been opened, closed, or tampered with, and you can share guest access through the Home app. It supports Matter and Aliro, and its core functions run locally, so they keep working without an internet connection.

On the climate side, the LG Smart Thermostat and the Schneider Home Smart Thermostat both use Adaptive Temperature in the Home app, which adjusts the heating and cooling depending on whether you’re home, asleep, or away. Both work with a broad range of HVAC systems and have on-device wire detection to make DIY installation easier. LG’s model is round, while Schneider’s has a small silver metal bezel and a translucent matte display with no glare. Schneider Electric says its thermostat senses when you’re nearby, and it can be paired over NFC even when it isn’t powered.

The thermostats can read temperature and humidity in multiple rooms using the sensors built into HomeView, HomePod, and HomePod mini. They can also use the new LG Temperature Sensor and Schneider Home Room Sensor, small standalone units that you place in other rooms. LG says its sensing algorithms are designed to reduce measurement errors and pick up temperature changes in real time, while Matter over Thread keeps the connection responsive.

Apple points out that Home app data, camera footage included, is end-to-end encrypted, so LG, Schneider Electric, and Apple can’t read it. Footage is processed locally on your home hub or in Private Cloud Compute and kept in iCloud for 10 days. You will need a home hub, such as HomeView, a HomePod, a HomePod mini, or an Apple TV 4K.

The Home Collection members go on sale in December, with select ones following in early 2027. The LG Video Doorbell Wired costs $249.95, the Floodlight Cam $399.95, the Outdoor Cam Plug-In $299.95, the Indoor Cam Plug-In $199.95, and the Smart Deadbolt Lock $349.95. The LG Smart Thermostat and Schneider Home Smart Thermostat are $199.95 each, and the LG Temperature Sensor and Schneider Home Room Sensor are $39.95 each. The cameras are coming to the US, Canada, and the UK, while the lock, thermostats, and sensors are limited to the US and Canada, at least for now.
