A critical remote code execution vulnerability that was recently patched in the ServiceNow AI platform is reportedly being exploited in the wild. The security hole is tracked as CVE-2026-6875 and it has been described as a sandbox escape issue that an unauthenticated attacker can exploit in certain circumstances to execute arbitrary code. When it announced the availability of patches on July 14, ServiceNow said a security update addressing the vulnerability had been deployed to hosted instances. However, self-hosted customers have to install the patches themselves. On the same day, cybersecurity firm Searchlight Cyber disclosed technical details and showed how the…
The Wabanaki people have a deep well of creation myths explaining the rocky coastlines of the Bay of Fundy, Downeast Maine, and Acadia National Park. Many involve Glooscap—a magical figure said to have floated down the Bay of Fundy in a stone canoe, sculpting coastal features by scraping the vessel across the landscape and scattering enormous boulders during battles with primordial beavers, frogs, moose, whales, and other gigantic animals. Fewer Indigenous creation myths survive to explain the origins of the sandy and marshy shorelines of southern Maine and the rocky, indented coasts of the state’s Midcoast region. But the sharp contrast…
Google Photos is giving users an easier way to leave its Gemini-powered search when a simple keyword would do. A new toggle now sits at the top of the results page, letting users switch between Ask Photos and classic search without digging through settings. The change appears to address feedback from people who opted into Ask Photos but wanted a quicker way to return to classic search when Gemini was slower or less useful for a straightforward query. Why did Google add the toggle? Ask Photos is built for complicated requests. It can understand natural-language questions and search for details…
The Play Store on your Android TV or Google TV may look like the whole story. It isn’t. You don’t have to limit your TV experience to what Google has approved for your model and region. You can try almost every app made for Android TV, including those that aren’t available officially. And no, I’m not talking about sideloading apps one by one. You can grab an alternative app store like F-Droid and unlock hundreds of more apps at once. F-Droid is an open-source app store that doesn’t require an account, is community driven, and only lists apps that don’t…

A vulnerability in OpenSSL could allow attackers to cause a server’s memory to be exhausted before any security handshake, Okta’s red team discovered. Referred to as HollowByte, the denial-of-service (DoS) bug could be triggered via a malicious payload of only 11 bytes that declares a larger incoming message body to trigger a buffer pre-allocation that is not immediately freed. HollowByte existed because older OpenSSL iterations pre-allocated receive buffer sizes based on the incoming message body length declared in the handshake message’s 4-byte header. The pre-allocation occurred before any data arrived, and an attacker could send an 11-byte payload to trigger…
Rapidly falling launch costs are making space more accessible than ever. But new research suggests the economics are improving even faster than most people realize, potentially opening the door to entirely new industries beyond Earth. For most of the space age, the cost of getting material into space was so vast that only the most well-heeled governments and corporations could participate. In 1960, getting a kilogram of payload into orbit would have cost you more than $87,000 (in 2024 US dollars). But according to researchers at the University of Cambridge, that figure had collapsed 96 percent to $3,868 by 2025. The team’s…
