HDMI cables are just about everywhere these days. All your game consoles need them, your Blu-ray player needs one, your streaming box needs one, and we’ve been using them for about two decades now. If you’re like me, you have a box filled with all the cables you’ve amassed over the years. These HDMI cables, although they look the same, have a few tricks up their sleeves. One of the biggest things an HDMI cable can do is control your devices via HDMI-CEC. Okay, the cable itself isn’t controlling your devices, but this feature lets one remote control everything. If…
A vulnerability in the Claude extension for Chrome could allow attackers to take over the AI agent and abuse it for information theft, cybersecurity firm LayerX reports. The flaw, dubbed ClaudeBleed, is a combination of lax permissions, where any Chrome extension can run commands in Claude in Chrome, and poorly implemented trust in the origin of the command, not the execution context. According to LayerX, the main issue is that the Claude extension allows interaction with any script running in the origin browser, without verifying its owner. “As a result, any extension can invoke a content script (which does not…

Apple’s long-running interest in glasses-free spatial display technology has resurfaced amid supply chain rumours, with a leaker claiming Samsung is developing a holographic panel that component suppliers have informally linked to a future device internally described as a “Spatial iPhone.” The leaker behind the reports, an X account operating under the name “Schrödinger,” has a partially verified record on Samsung hardware, having accurately predicted the Exynos 2600 chipset of Galaxy S26 Plus, 12GB RAM configuration, and One UI 8.5 software ahead of the handset’s February confirmation, which lends the claims some limited standing. Samsung’s role in this rumour is grounded…
Like other streaming services, Roku has plenty of ways to adjust the settings and work on hidden menus through button combinations. You’ll want to learn these to keep your device running smoothly, troubleshoot issues, or customize your home screen. Luckily, it’s really easy to learn and use them, but make sure to keep the combinations nearby while you work. Clear your cache with the home button Even your streaming stick needs a cache deletion James Hirtz / MakeUseOf When you use your Roku daily, it stores temporary data like thumbnails and login credentials to load your favorite channels faster. There is no app that lets you pull up someone else’s call history. There never has been, and there almost certainly never will be — carriers don’t expose that data, and no third-party developer has the access required to retrieve it. This is not a grey area; it is simply not possible. And yet, 7.3 million people, according to welivesecurity have downloaded apps that claimed to do exactly that. Security researchers at ESET spent months untangling a sprawling family of 28 fraudulent Android apps they collectively dubbed CallPhantom — apps that promised users a window into anyone’s phone activity: call…
