Forza Horizon 6 PC requirements are surprisingly forgiving for a modern AAA game

Forza Horizon 6 is shaping up to be a new visual showcase, but its PC requirements tell a different story.

Despite the next-gen graphics, the game sticks to relatively approachable specs, especially for modern AAA games. This is a welcome surprise in a time when new titles often feel like they demand a full system upgrade.

What’s great about the PC requirements?

To run Forza Horizon 6, the minimum requirements for PC include an Intel Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 1600, paired with 16GB RAM and a GTX 1650, RX 6500 XT, or Intel Arc A380. While this isn’t exactly low-end, most of these specs are either a few generations old or are considered entry-level now. Since these are parts that have been around for years, many mid-range systems already meet or exceed this level of performance.

It is worth noting that the minimum is to achieve a smooth 60fps gameplay on low settings graphical presets at 1080p resolution.

The studio has even confirmed Steam Deck and ASUS Xbox ROG Ally compatibility.

Some surprises, and some are the norm

The baseline 16GB RAM is a great sign, even for the “Recommended” specs list, which also asks for an i5-12400F or Ryzen 5 5600X with either an RTX 3060 Ti, a Radeon 6700 XT, or an Arc A580. While this is technically much higher than the recommended requirements of older Forza games, it’s not out of step with current expectations.

Forza Horizon 6 also requires an SSD storage, which has effectively become standard for modern games. At this point, it’s less of a limitation and more of a baseline assumption for smooth loading and streaming of large open-world environments.

What stands out here is the balance.

Forza Horizon 6 clearly aims to deliver high-end visuals, but without locking out a huge portion of the player base. The top-tier graphics are best experienced in more expensive hardware, but it looks like the developers have optimized the experience to scale well across a range of systems. The Forza Horizon series is one of the most popular racing franchises, so keeping the latest title accessible to a broader audience is a solid move.
