Android (Go Edition) is made for low-end devices, optimized for low storage, low RAM, and low processing power. Now Google has announced that it’s bringing Gemini to Android (Go Edition) phones, which have at least 2GB of RAM. It’s called Gemini Go.

2GB has been the mandated minimum for (Go Edition) devices since Android 13 (Go Edition), so there are quite a few of them out there that meet this requirement. Gemini Go is described by Google as “a streamlined version of Gemini designed to help you stay connected and get things done, even on devices with lower storage”.

Google brings Gemini to Android Go devices

It replaces Google Assistant Go, and it’s available through the Google Search app. You can start a conversation with Gemini Go by pressing and holding the Home button, or by pressing and holding the power button on supported devices.

Gemini Go can call or send texts for you, check your drive time to a place, find restaurants and EV chargers, set alarms, create calendar events, play media, and much more. You can also upload docs, photos, and other files to give it more context for your chats.

Gemini Go is rolling out gradually, and Google’s gradual rollouts are known to take a very long time, so if you have an eligible device for it, don’t be surprised if you’ll only get it in a few weeks.
