Huawei launched four new Mate 90 series phones in China yesterday and the more capable Pro Max and RS models feature the brand’s latest Kirin 9050 Pro chipset. While Huawei did not reveal much about the SoC in its marketing materials, a fresh Geekbench test run for the Mate 90 Pro Max has us covered.

The Mate 90 Pro Max (CMM-AL10) scored an average of 1,317 single-core points and 5,381 multi-core points on Geekbench 7. The highest score at the time of writing is 1,528 single-core points and 6,169 multi-core points. This places the Kirin 9050 Pro’s CPU performance somewhere between 2021’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and its successor – the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Geekbench reveals the Kirin 9050 Pro features a nine-core CPU with a Prime “ultra” core clocked at 3.1GHz. It is joined by 6x performance cores @2.7GHz and 2.2GHz alongside 2x efficiency cores working at 1.75GHz. It also boasts a Maleoon 955 GPU featuring six cores clocked at 1.05 GHz.

According to a report from Bernstein Research, Kirin 9050 Pro is fabbed on a 7nm class process node using SMIC’s N+2 or N+3 process tech. We should reiterate that this information is not confirmed by Huawei, but it is the best we have for now.
