Huawei unveiled a new MatePad Air tablet in China today, dubbed MatePad Air Z. It comes in two versions, with a standard edition MatePad Air Z joined by an Enjoy Edition. For the most part, the two versions share nearly identical specs, with some minor differences in the display, chipset and charging speed departments.
All MatePad Air Z models bring 12-inch IPS LCDs with a 2800 × 1840 px resolution, 3:2 aspect ratio and a 144Hz refresh rate. The standard edition is configurable with a PaperMatte display.
The standard and Enjoy models feature Huawei’s Kirin T93SD chipset, while the Paper Matte one gets the Kirin T93S SoC. All versions are configurable with 8/12GB RAM and 128/256GB storage.
There’s a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing shooter. The standard edition does get an LED flash, while the Enjoy Edition does not.
All versions are equipped with a 10,100mAh battery, with the standard edition supporting 66W charging while the Enjoy Edition is limited to 40W speeds. They boot HarmonyOS 7 and feature Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity.
Huawei MatePad Air Z Enjoy Edition starts at CNY 2,999 ($447). Huawei is offering a CNY 200 discount, which brings the starting price to CNY 2,799 ($417).
The MatePad Air Z proper starts at CNY 3,699 ($551), while the Paper Matte version is CNY 600 more.
