These are the Redmi Buds 8 Pro in Glacier Blue, and we’re ready to unbox them right after their global premiere. They are the latest addition to the Redmi brand’s audio portfolio and bring some impressive specs, including triple drivers, hi-res audio streaming with LDAC support and active noise cancellation (ANC) rated at up to 55dB, all while retailing for under €100/£100.

Our Glacier Blue review sample is arguably the best color option, with the other two being plain black and white. It has a satin-like matte finish with slight hints of silver throughout the case and buds. The outside parts of the stems, which house the touch controls, are glossy for some contrast.

The box contents include a short USB-C cable as well as two extra pairs of silicone ear tips.

The Buds 8 Pro charging case carries the same battery level LED strip, which was present on the Redmi Buds 6 Pro and it once again shows a charging animation when you plug the case into power.

Buds 8 Pro pair over Bluetooth 5.4 with the ability to stay connected to two devices simultaneously. In terms of sound, Redmi claims the Buds 8 Pro deliver improved bass in the sub 100Hz region.

They feature updated ANC with adaptive real-time noise cancellation and noise masking profiles for public transit and airplane travel. The ANC system scans surrounding noises at a whopping 32,000 times a second so you’re constantly getting optimal noise control.

The buds are outfitted with triple microphones and updated AI call noise reduction which promises clear calls even in windy environments. Battery life is rated at 8 hours from the earbuds and the case extends those numbers to 33 hours. The buds are also IP54-rated against dust and water, while the case has no form of ingress protection.

And that’s all we have to share for the Redmi Buds 8 Pro for now. These are shaping up to be a solid successor to the Buds 6 Pro. Make sure to check out our hands-ons with the Redmi Pad 8 Pro and Xiaomi Watch S5, which were also announced at Xiaomi’s big launch event.
