    Tecno bezel-less concept phone hands-on

The race to 0mm display bezels has taken a back seat in recent years, but Tecno decided to jump-start the whole ordeal with its bezel-less concept phone. We got to hold it in person here at IFA Berlin 2026, and these are some early impressions.

While there are no visible black borders around the display, the metal frame feels wider compared to regular phones. So, did Tecno just squeeze the bezels under the phone’s frame? Kind of.

It’s actually more complicated than that. See, Tecno is using a dual-layer cover glass with the bottom portion wrapping around the midframe and concealing the inactive area and the black bezels.

This approach also required Tecno to invert the screen assembly process, with the module inserted from the back. There’s also a custom hot-melt adhesive that holds the second layer cover glass from the front side.

In practice, the immersion is real. Apps, content and UI elements expand edge to edge. Everything that you’re used to interacting with on a regular phone just feels a bit more “zoomed-in”. Here’s a side-by-side with an iPhone 17 Pro Max, which has pretty slim 1.36mm bezels.

Being a concept device, Tecno’s bezel-less phone also comes with some minor flaws. Namely, we could still make out some black bars around the bottom edges of the screen.

Tecno’s press release says it achieved the 0mm display bezel through a mix of advanced internal stacking, structural re-engineering and novel screen packaging techniques. While eliminating the screen bezel makes the device seem more futuristic, it also brought several new challenges that Tecno had to deal with.

With nowhere to rest your finger, Tecno had to rework touch sensitivity and UI elements, which the maker says will “pave the way for future flagship innovations”. This certainly sounds like we might actually see the 0mm bezel display on a commercial device eventually.

Speaking of the display, it’s a 6.78-inch AMOLED with 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The phone feels slim and light, which might be because it shares its design and hardware with the recently announced Tecno Camon Slim.
