Weekly poll results: Moto G77 needs good review scores to succeed, the others may be in trouble

Last week, we asked your opinion on two mid-range and two entry-level Motorola phones. We have the results from the poll in front of us now and let’s just say that some have more potential than others.

Starting with the most promising model of the four, the Motorola Moto G77 was knocked for its Dimensity 6400 chipset – the 6000-series chips are better-suited for entry-level phones. The €300/£250 price range is home to much more powerful chips than this.

The 108MP camera is the standout feature on the Moto G77 and such a high resolution sensor is indeed fairly rare in this segment. However, it is not unheard of, e.g. see the Redmi Note 15.

Solid reviews can certainly boost the G77’s standing in the market, but they won’t do much for the Motorola Moto G67. Half of voters think there are better mid-rangers for the price – and that includes the G77. Admittedly, the G67 is a bit cheaper at €260/£200, but it’s not a huge difference and you lose the one standout feature on the phone – unlike the 108MP module, the 50MP 1/1.95” main camera on the G67 is just nothing to write home about.

The Motorola Moto G17 is in a worse spot – in fact, it got the worst reception out of the four phones. Keep in mind that many voters just aren’t in the market for an entry-level phone, which makes things look worse than they really are. Still, it’s hard to overlook the fact that the vast majority of people who are looking for an entry-level phone won’t even consider the G17.

    Motorola Moto G17 poll results

Going by the poll above, people are more likely to buy a Motorola Moto G17 Power than the vanilla G17. And G17 Power’s own poll results confirm that. Most people would probably still pick a different model, but the G17 Power at least has a fighting chance – especially if it does well in reviews.

One common complaint that we saw in the comments affects all Motorolas, not just the selection of G-series models above. Motorola is slow with updates – if it provides them at all.
