SpaceX has its own ambitious plans for AI data centers in space, while Microsoft has explored the idea by sinking them underwater. However, building AI data centers is expensive and power-intensive. This is why a UK firm wants to build one using street lamp posts in Nigeria, and it has already signed a deal to do it. Warwickshire-based Conflow Power Group has agreed with Nigeria’s Katsina State Government to deploy 50,000 solar-powered smart lamp posts called iLamps across the state (via BBC). Each unit runs on a cylindrical solar panel and battery, powering a low-energy Nvidia chip that draws just…

RoboticsI’ve Covered Robots for Years. This One Is DifferentWill Knight | Wired ($)”Eka’s robot demos suggest that the company’s approach should enable real robot dexterity with further training. If that’s true, it could revolutionize how robots are used—not only in factories and warehouses but also in shops, restaurants, even households. ‘Trillions of dollars flow through the human hand,’ Agrawal says. ‘To me, this is the biggest problem in the world to be solved.'”Artificial IntelligenceI Built an Agent to Do My Job. Internet drops are frustrating, regardless of whether you’re in a work call, online, or simply trying to catch up on that web series you’ve been putting off for so long. Now you shouldn’t blame your ISP before fixing a few router defaults, but if your router and network settings are in place and the ISP is having a bad day, there’s not much you can do about it. You could, in theory, get a backup internet connection and configure your router to fall back on it if the primary fails. However, such redundancy isn’t really useful unless you’re in a…

How well does it accomplish…
A newly identified stealthy Python-based backdoor framework provides attackers with persistent remote command execution and surveillance capabilities on Windows computers, Securonix reports. The malware’s infection chain starts with the execution of a batch script that disables the system’s security controls, including SmartScreen, firewall logging, Defender tamper protection, and Antimalware Scan Interface functions. Next, it loads an embedded Python payload and establishes multi-layered persistence by modifying Run registries, creating scheduled tasks, and placing scripts in the Startup folder. By embedding the payload directly into the batch script’s body, the malware’s developer simplifies delivery and evades network-based detection, Securonix explains. Additionally, the…
