Dolby Atmos is a fantastic audio format, and for many people, it’s the format to strive for. I’m in that same boat, and I have a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos setup in my living room. The Atmos part of that setup comes from two satellite speakers that I have mounted close to my ceiling, acting a front heights. My receiver recognizes them as such, and I have no complaints. I do have to eventually upgrade those speakers to get some more performance, but I’ve been telling myself that for years. The big thing you need to be aware of that I…

A new alert issued by the FBI warns of a surge in cyber-enabled cargo theft, with hackers targeting both brokers and carriers in sophisticated attacks. The FBI’s warning is not surprising. In late 2025, cybersecurity firm Proofpoint reported observing such attacks. At around the same time, the National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA) warned the logistics and transportation industry that traditional cargo theft is being rapidly replaced by cyber-enabled heists.  Cargo theft caused more than $700 million in losses in 2025 — a 60% increase over 2024 — driven by criminal gangs targeting high-value goods. According to the FBI, cargo…

Granular Unit Economics per MW Cruseo CEO Lochmiller broke down the inputs/outputs with high precision (April 2025 contract pricing and the talk) Upfront capex is ~$59M per MW of developed capacity. Flip phones were supposed to be the fun side of foldables – but lately, they feel like the forgotten ones. While the tech is undoubtedly getting more reliable, the sense of wonder that I felt with early flip-style foldables is being replaced by a nagging sense of deja vu. We’re seeing the same chassis, the same dimensions, and the same compromises year after year, and it feels like the industry has found a “good enough” template and decided to stick with it. That leaves flip phones in a state of polished stagnation, while their larger, book-style siblings continue to push…

Drama TV series set within the realm of historical accuracy will always be a bit more enthralling than a completely made-up world. That’s because the anxiety, tension, and fear that are portrayed in the series feel rooted in real life. Audiences can see that this is something that can happen, making it a bit chillier to wrap their heads around. Historical epics have become a popular tool for limited series over the past 10–15 years. Options like The Terror, The Crown, and Boardwalk Empire have taken real events and put an entertaining lens on them while mainly sticking to the…

Cisco on Thursday unveiled a new open source tool, named Model Provenance Kit, designed to help organizations address potential issues associated with the use of third-party AI models. Organizations often leverage AI models obtained from model repositories such as HuggingFace, where millions of models are available. While these models can offer many benefits, organizations often don’t track the changes made to them. In addition, although repositories provide guidance on the importance of model cards and metadata, the maintenance work performed by their developers can vary, affecting downstream users.  Cisco also pointed out that claims made by model developers — including…

SpaceX has its own ambitious plans for AI data centers in space, while Microsoft has explored the idea by sinking them underwater. However, building AI data centers is expensive and power-intensive. This is why a UK firm wants to build one using street lamp posts in Nigeria, and it has already signed a deal to do it. Warwickshire-based Conflow Power Group has agreed with Nigeria’s Katsina State Government to deploy 50,000 solar-powered smart lamp posts called iLamps across the state (via BBC). Each unit runs on a cylindrical solar panel and battery, powering a low-energy Nvidia chip that draws just…
