A few weeks ago, we heard a rumor that Samsung will replace the long telephoto camera on the Galaxy S27 Ultra. That is not happening, says Ice Universe.

The S27 Ultra will keep the 5x 1/2.52” telephoto module of the S26 Ultra. The rumor was claiming that Samsung will replace it with a new module with a shorter lens (4x) and a larger sensor (1/1.9”). This is “100% false,” says Ice.

The leakster didn’t say anything about the rumor that Samsung will remove the 3x 10MP tele module, so that’s likely going away. Its absence will not be felt, given how good the 200MP main camera is at smaller zoom levels.

Samsung will reshuffle the camera positions (as you can see in the CAD renders above), though. This is in part to refresh the look of the phone and in part to enable better clearance for magnetic accessories. The current Magnet Wireless Battery Pack has an awkward cutout to get around the S26 Ultra camera placement.

As for the Galaxy S27 Pro, last we heard, it will only feature a 3x 12MP telephoto camera. This is in addition to a 200MP main and a 50MP ultra-wide.

So, yes, the Galaxy S27 Ultra will still have an edge over the new S27 Pro when it comes to zooming in. However, that will not come in the form of a new telephoto module.
