An X user @samhenrigold unearthed a reference inside the iOS 27 source code that mentions a new Apple wearable device with model number B790. The reference itself isn’t very revealing, but it confirms that the device supports features related to Visual Intelligence.

iOS 27 source code reveals a new Apple wearable supporting Visual Intelligence

Visual Intelligence is a new feature that allows users to ask Siri about an object using the default Camera app on iOS 27-running iPhones. The feature is available on iPhone 15 Pro and newer.

Unfortunately, we have no clue which device is referenced in the source code, but it’s surely an upcoming one, and it has a camera. After all, the code itself contains instructions for the way Visual Intelligence works, and it can recognize landmarks, text, known objects and brand logos. And you can’t do that without a camera.

We might be seeing the first traces of mixed-reality Apple smart glasses or some sort of AirPods with cameras, but that last bit seems unlikely. Especially after the latest rumors suggest that Apple suspended the development of the AirPods Ultra with cameras.
