Summary Vivaldi 8.0 fights AI-driven search overload with a privacy-first, opt-in approach. Unified design merges toolbars, panels, and tabs into one cohesive, gesture-friendly UI. Deep customization: themes, gestures, integrated mail/notes, and the ability to revert to the old look. As an independent writer, I spend countless hours exploring the web, researching, and planning the stories I write. Lately, that experience has been nothing short of a nightmare, with every major browser racing to inject chatbots, AI search, and summaries, and generally pressuring me to accept AI as default. And it’s only going to get more prevalent, for better or worse.…

AI, and especially agentic AI, is remodeling attack and defense throughout cybersecurity. Any distinction between emerging targets and primary targets in app security has dissolved, courtesy of bad actors’ rapid adoption of agentic AI. All apps should be considered primary targets, and security budgets should be allocated to reflect the new reality. Two areas of focus are discussed in Digital.ai’s 2026 App Security Threat Report. Firstly, the number of attacks against client-facing apps monitored by the firm has increased from 55% in 2022 to 87% in 2026. This increase is driven by the role of AI in permanently collapsing the…
It’s a truism among oceanographers that there is more accurate mapping of the surface of the Moon and Mars than of the deep-ocean floor. That’s especially true for the Bismarck Sea, a relatively deep body of water north of Papua New Guinea. It’s an ocean basin with a geologically complex seafloor rife with faults, volcanic features, rifts, scarps, and active subduction and spreading zones at depths that make high-resolution sonar mapping challenging. When satellites detected signs of an unexpected submarine volcanic eruption in the Central Bismarck Sea on May 8, 2026, volcanologists were confronted with the reality that no high-resolution…
Why you can trust TechRadar We spend hours testing every product or service we review, so you can be sure you’re buying the best. Find out more about how we test. Gigabyte MO27U2: Two-Minute ReviewWe’ve seen many glitzy gaming monitors over the past few years, so it’s almost refreshing to see a premium model that eschews all the in-your-face RGB lighting and pointy bits for a more sober option that better suits a mixed work-and-play environment. But is the Gigabyte MO27U2 actually worth buying? It’s a tandem QD-OLED screen with a multi-layer OLED structure that boosts brightness and efficiency, while Gigabyte’s OLED…

Exoskeletons used to be the stuff of sci-fi movies and futuristic research labs, but are now actual consumer products you can get your hands on. These wearable devices strap onto your body and use motors to help you move with less effort, letting you walk farther, climb easier, and spend longer on your feet without feeling it as much. But they can sometimes be big, bulky, and uncomfortable. But that’s an issue Hypershell is fixing with its latest range.Hypershell’s latest X series is a three-model range of wearable exoskeletons, headlined by the flagship X Ultra S. The big new addition…
Microsoft on Tuesday rolled out mitigations for YellowKey, a recently disclosed zero-day vulnerability leading to BitLocker bypass. The issue, now tracked as CVE-2026-45585 (CVSS score of 6.8), can be triggered by an attacker with physical access to a system by using a USB drive containing the publicly released YellowKey exploit code and rebooting the system into recovery mode. Instead of serving the attacker the typical Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), the exploit spawns a shell, offering access to the underlying partition’s contents, no longer protected by BitLocker’s encryption. Microsoft’s advisory acknowledges the public exploit and its effects: “A successful attacker could…
Sign up to see the future, today Can’t-miss innovations from the bleeding edge of science and tech In ancient Roman times, military generals are thought to have used a tactic known as decimation to punish mutinous groups of mercenary soldiers. Essentially, they’d kill one in every 10 unruly soldiers as a horrifying message to discipline those who remained. Today, the same tactic is evidently in play — not by bloodthirsty generals, but by tech billionaires thinning their ranks to free up money for AI. Back in April, Meta announced it was laying off 10 percent of its workforce, or around…
